Let's Get Started

Who am I?
I'm Alecia.  I've been teaching public school for 18 years.  And now... I'm a home schooler too.

Never say never.  That's all I have to say.

My middle school son started showing some great difficulty in the seventh grade.  I won't get into details in the public domain, but suffice it to say my husband and I had a choice to make.

When I was faced with this choice, I began to explore how we could make this work.  It would be unconventional.  After all, my husband and I both have full time jobs.  No one was going to quit and stay home.  After praying, searching and talking to other home school friends, I decided to piece together my own instruction for him.

Here's a caveat: I am a certified teacher.  In the state in which we live, we have great freedom with our home school rules.  Please do not go verbatim by what I am publishing.  You are required to be accountable to your own state rules if you choose to go this route.

This is for the purpose of sharing lessons and units I have developed.  Everything is developed for the child to have self-study followed up by a parent after-the-fact.

Russian Unit Study

I have let my son drive our studies in History.  We are taking a World History approach and he is deciding the topics he'd like to study...
